The Media Monitor
The Media Monitor is the annual publication of the Dutch Media Authority on media developments in the Netherlands. We report on media concentration, activities of media companies, (news) media use and media trends. The Media Monitor provides insight into the impact of those developments on media independence and pluralism, with a special focus on news and information.

Representation Monitor
Our Representation Monitor studies the representation of women in Dutch non-fiction television programmes in 2019 and in 2021. This study is commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. In 2024, we published a follow-up. In this study, we mapped both gender diversity and diversity of disabilities in television programmes.

- Gender representation on Dutch tv in 2019 and 2021
- Gender representation on Dutch tv in 2019
Youth, news and social media
The media routines young people develop now will help determine their media behaviour in the future. Young people are using traditional media less and less, and social media more and more. Also for news. The Dutch Media Authority conducted research on the consequences of this for the use of journalism.
